Lisa Langell

A nature photographer and birder from the age of eight, Lisa is the founder of Langell Photography, LLC.  She started her business in 2010 after long vibrant careers as a floral designer, educational psychologist, consultant and in helping launch and manage two startups that grew into leading companies in the Ed-Tech space.  Since then, she has earned numerous awards and has been published in Outdoor Photographer, Arizona Highways, Ranger Rick, Images Arizona, and more.

 

She is an Image Master for Tamron Americas, an Ambassador for Fotopro Tripods, an a judge for ViewBug.
 

Lisa loves creating nature photography and art that is inspired by her background in psychology and design. When Lisa isn’t having fun making photographs, she’s thriving on teaching photography—both via engaging online/webinar-based classes and in her in-the-field sessions.  She specializes in Alaska, Florida, Arizona and beyond.  Her humility and passion for teaching and photography shines through! Lisa provides photographers with memorable, fun, and caring experiences that enrich, invigorate and expand photographers’ skills and portfolios in wonderful ways.

Description: A smartphone camera is an awesome tool!  It’s a $500-1500 camera!  Lisa (iPhone) and Dan (Android) will team up to teach you simple but powerful techniques that professional photographers use their smartphones to capture beautiful images.   You will learn at LEAST a dozen useful techniques as well as several bad habits to avoid in order to make the most of your phone’s camera.  Be proud of the images you capture with the camera that is always with you!  We will also introduce you to a few in-camera editing tools and apps that will help you make your photos stand out even more.

Required gear:  A smartphone (iOS/iPhone or Android phone)
Physical level: Slow-paced walking up to ¼ mile on paved and unpaved surfaces (grass, sand, etc.) that are flat or have a very slight incline. Frequent stopping/standing for photo opportunities.

Description: Inspired photography is about creative vision--and obtaining that vision happens when you learn to be hyper aware of the opportunities that surround you.  This session will help you train your brain to see the infinite opportunities for beautiful images at a single location!  Emphasis on birds, beachscapes, abstracts, silhouettes, composition and more.

​TIP: Consider borrowing from Tamron Booth:  50-400mm, 28-300mm, 150-500mm, 150-600mm or similar

Suggested Gear list: Camera, extra cards and batteries, tripod (optional, but recommended), 3 lenses (e.g., 24-70, 70-200 and long lens with ideally 500mm+ reach), NDF filters or polarizer optional. Wear shoes appropriate for beach walking.

Description: Image reviews and critiques delivered often have a bad reputation for being harsh, overly critical, and even disrespectful. Additionally, Lisa & Dan know that it's impossible to learn how to improve your work if your image is critiqued without helping you know what you did right, what techniques could be introduced or modified, and how to apply them in the future.   Lisa & Dan offer a Better Kind of Image Review—They take a sincere, positive and helpful approach -- one that helps you understand what works, what can be improved, and what you can do before you take the next shot to get greater impact with your photography.

You will submit up to two images.  Your name will remain anonymous for the audience.
